My vises are made by Panavise, a U.S. Company.  The one with the wide jaws is the model 350.  The smaller one is the model 301. Both have the 312 Base mount – www.panavise.com

  1. There's been a rash of card skimmers found in gas pumps around here. Not surprising since they nearly all had cheap wafer locks on them. Fortunately the scandal has made them all start upgrading the locks. I've seen more new Abloys in the last couple months than ever before. Also seen some that look like Abloys but are actually cheap Chinese knock offs. And then just yesterday my favorite 7-11 finally got new locks. They went with these.

  2. We used to use them at the gas station I used to work at. They're not very weather resistant and got jammed all the time so we switched to High security tubular locks.

  3. Did I miss something here? I mean, yeah like in a Medeco (how the pins need to rotate in line with the key bitting to pass the sidebar)the key for this lock has angled bitting. But Medeco pins have angled pin faces so they will spin when the proper key is inserted.
These pins are flat on the key-side! Also, they are not bifurcated, so there is no shear line.
It's as though the two sidebars ARE the locking mechanism itself.
There is no plug, so to speak, and there is no angled bitting.
How is this lock fundamentally different from an ACE lock with no plug?

  4. These things are not mass produced, they are made to order and VERY expensive.  The last time I saw one it was on a fuel dispenser.

  5. i worked at tubar at its original inception outside of chicago for many years, starting as a lock builder then up to production manger until the company was sold to compx in 2001,  a nice blast of my past in your video, thanks!
