My vises are made by Panavise, a U.S. Company.  The one with the wide jaws is the model 350.  The smaller one is the model 301. Both have the 312 Base mount – www.panavise.com

  1. Can you also pick the more modern Winkhaus locks that have both "normal" and "radial" pins? They're kind of a combination of a "normal" and a "drill hole" lock. E. g. Winkhaus RPE has a 5+8 pin design (so 5 "normal" pins and 8 "radial" pins), Winkhaus RAP has 6+10, and Winkhaus RAP+ has 6+17. Must be quite challenging to get between 13 and 23 pins set correctly and to act on both "normal" and "radial" pins simultaneously. On the other hand, I'm not sure about how much extra security the radial pins even provide, since, when you take a look at the key, you will only see "hole present or not", so it seems like, contrary to the "normal" pins, where the cuts on the key can have several different "depths", the radial pins are limited to two discrete "depths". Also, I don't quite get how the lock may even "query" the depth of those holes, as the housing only extends "downwards" enough to have space for the springs and pins, but not "sideways", where the housing is little larger than the plug itself. Could you shed some light?

  2. Hi Bill. thats pretty nice picking, i have seen quite a few of your chalanges. and being new at this i just seem not to get a hang of this. But the types of locks you have picked sent from your chalangers is pretty impresive. nice work ;)

  3. Thanks to your videos I have put my metal/woodworking skill to use to make a simple pick set and a tension wrench. Now I can pick any lock in my house (including my cash box!) in under a minute.

  4. Great that the package came all over the ozean, and looks that good!
Unfortunately I don't know how old this telephone-lock is (bought it on a flea market)
but it is a nice pick for only three pins, but you'll find out.

Happy picking from Niklas Herzog, out of the soccer-Worldchampion-country Germany!

  8. I sent you a message a while back. I don't know if you got it. I was wondering what is a good lube for locks and where to buy a good cheap set of picks and rakes. I have picked about 4 locks so far. Oh and can standard interior doorknob locks be different from dead bolt locks?
