My vises are made by Panavise, a U.S. Company.  The one with the wide jaws is the model 350.  The smaller one is the model 301. Both have the 312 Base mount – www.panavise.com

  1. Murphy balls make the tension side of lock picking more of a sport. They also make more secure locks.

  2. That lock with the Murphy ball just shows that a lock can be made more secure at a very low cost and without massive re-design and re-tooling with the addition of a security pin or two. This lock would be very difficult for a common criminal type to get into.

  3. Ideally the ball detent should be in the 6th chamber but yes you can put it in any chamber.
    You have to use shorter set screw so the key will pass under it though.
