(314) Picking Rukos

LockLab is Fan funded!  Help pay for stuff to review, break and talk trash about, and maybe even give away when we’re done.  Join the Tribe!

My vises are made by Panavise, a U.S. Company.  The one with the wide jaws is the model 350.  The smaller one is the model 301. Both have the 312 Base mount – www.panavise.com

  1. Great explanation Bill, I will have to re-pick a Ruko thumb turn I have. Did a video on it ages ago but want to see how she pops again.

  2. thanks, they look like it too lol so the leeved cores really work well with the pins, i have a ruko in 'lock lab' somewhere and she's a naughty little girl, never been picked

  3. I don't know what the real name is, several people call them "enhanced spools", others "serrated". I'd call them a kind of hybrid – neither spool nor serrated. Whatever the heck we call them, they are a bitch to pick with one of those sleeved cores – I can say THAT for SURE.

  4. Bill, I have a core from a door knob loaded with mushrooms of a short and those lips all along the edges, I just can not move it!! I would love to send it to you, just let me know where to mail it. I will have one more try at it , thanks for the encouraging video!

  5. You make these look so easy Bill! TheCaveman1966 sent me a couple of Assa Ruko 2's (the sexy black bitches)…one 5 pinner and a 6 pinner with no key…I can't even get a false set for fucks sake! They piss me off every time I bring em out, grrr ! Lol Cavey said I should start by taking out some pins but I don't have torque wrenches, but when I do I'm gonna slap these bitches hard til they open!
