(144) Tubelite Mortise Cylinder SPP’d & Zipped

LockLab is Fan funded!  Help pay for stuff to review, break and talk trash about, and maybe even give away when we’re done.  Join the Tribe!

My vises are made by Panavise, a U.S. Company.  The one with the wide jaws is the model 350.  The smaller one is the model 301. Both have the 312 Base mount – www.panavise.com

  1. You are exactly right! For example: Kwikset versus Schlage. I think it all comes down to manufacturing tolerences and bitting. Sometimes I find regular pinned locks harder to pick than security pinned ones, simply because there's none of the characteristic feedback to tell you if you are on the right path.

  2. I agree, a poorly pinned lock makes things too easy. When I re-pin this one before sending it along, it won't be nearly as easy as how I found it. To answer your PM question: I haven't been picking these before videoing, so have no idea what's inside until we discover it together. I've only pre-picked a couple and they are the ones that are in very poor/dirty condition and I wanted to make sure they actually work before wasting time on them.
