(159) Corbin Russwin 6-Pin Master Ring

My vises are made by Panavise, a U.S. Company.  The one with the wide jaws is the model 350.  The smaller one is the model 301. Both have the 312 Base mount – www.panavise.com

  1. All you guys saw was the finale! Leading up to that were uncounted attempts, massive doses of frustration, self-doubt, humiliation, and about 100 failed video attempts. When it popped, I couldn't believe my eyes. Merry Christmas to you as well, sir!

  2. Another really tricky thing about those master ring cylinders is that, in addition to two shear lines, you have something like 6*6=36 potential binding orders… or at least two per pin stack.

Note also that now that you know that all of the top pins are spools, you should have a much easier time picking it to master; if the pin sets without going _out_ of false, you probably set the change plug. The at the master line, the spool pops into the shell. Or something like that. Possible follow-up?

  3. Great job, buddy!

Mine kept picking to master (as usual) which I think made them even more… fun to disassemble… and reassemble. Use the force 🙂

Question: were all your master pins the same length?

    Another one bites the dust!
