(393) Tesa TE5 (Assa Abloy): Rock’em Open!

My vises are made by Panavise, a U.S. Company.  The one with the wide jaws is the model 350.  The smaller one is the model 301. Both have the 312 Base mount – www.panavise.com

  1. Nice! The one I have has nice low cuts at 1 and 5. Interestingly the keypins and driver pins are slightly beveled at the ends and keypins have an overset trap. Nasty stuff to SPP

  2. Hmm, I found one of these on my last trip to Mexico (a bit before I watched the video actually) but it has been quite a while now and I still can't open it. Rocking is out of the queston (although I still try it from time to time hoping for a miracle:P ) as the bidding mostly high and low.
    Good job Bill.

p.s. Bill, is this cut at the end of the key playing any role? I can't see/feel anything there. (I don't want to gut it before I open it at least once :_)

  3. damn it bill !!! i have almost the same (TE5)
i was struggling like crazy to SPP that one.. so i feel better that i'm not alone 🙂
I opened it ONE TIME in SPP and i'm still trying to understand what the hell happen 🙂
it was extremly frustrating because i can rake it with a l-rack in < 5 seconds..
the pins feel serrated tho I did not gutted it yet but it certainly feel grindy
