My vises are made by Panavise, a U.S. Company.  The one with the wide jaws is the model 350.  The smaller one is the model 301. Both have the 312 Base mount – www.panavise.com

  1. I considered renting at Public Storage, but they told me I cannot put a combination lock on my unit. I prefer to lock my storage unit with two locks, one keyed and the other combination.

  2. I counted the time to defeat each lock (roughly): 12 Seconds… 9 Seconds… And 30ish Seconds.
I know people who can't strike a match that fast…

  3. A lot of public storage places won't let you use your own locks though, because they need to be able to inspect the property when you're not there. Not to mention that if you don't pay your bill, they'll auction off your stuff to cover the lost revenue.

  4. You've missed the entire point. Their business is not providing security, it's selling locks, boxes, tape and the idea of security. They don't give these locks away, they require you to buy them to rent a storage space. Like most businesses now they are all about scamming people, nothing more.

  5. i think ya lost sight of the fact that most of these places have security and security cameras.. not saying storage units are 100% safe…but most thieves that would go for your worthless junk in storage are generally too stupid to go through that much trouble.. :P

  6. any lock can be picked, when you keep guns and Harley's, in storage  lock box, you bring a broker to the storage place and you pay for insurance , they look at everything you want insured , you pay for the policy , and that's how a smart person would do that. they have cameras every were at them places , the ins,co would love to give you ins.

  7. Do it in the up position attach to a door buckle ..its much easier on a table i no you can but how much more time will it take..What is the best lock you ever tried and failed at picking it open ???Just the medeco ??

  8. Great video, sir! With this information and some tips/advice that I gleaned from the comments below, I'm confident that the next time I need a storage unit mine will not be the easiest target in the lot!
