My vises are made by Panavise, a U.S. Company.  The one with the wide jaws is the model 350.  The smaller one is the model 301. Both have the 312 Base mount – www.panavise.com

  1. Nice review but not surprised at the quality. Looking forward to another milestone…#1000.
    Keep up the good work.
BTW..the wife points out that not all your fans are “fellows”

  2. Wow! I use the metal splinter that I took a few from work to probe the 4 digit combination and unlocked it. I wonder what happened if you used vise grip or adjustable wrench to brute force the locked combination diskus to turn the shackle to see how vulnerable is the lock?

  3. I was starting to get into this hobby but someone told me lockpicks are actually illegal to own in Japan.

I googled a bit and couldn't find any solid information either way, just lots of people saying they are illegal, so I tossed my Sparrows just to be safe.

  4. It's also worth mentioning that if you don't know the distance of 5 (for example if it were 3), you can just determine that by rolling the entire set of wheels together, one number at a time, and try unlocking it at each interval.

  5. So, with someone knowing how to defeat the combination you could be locked out of your own lock. If you yourself do not know how to defeat it since it uses no special tool to change the combination you will be SOOL.
