My vises are made by Panavise, a U.S. Company.  The one with the wide jaws is the model 350.  The smaller one is the model 301. Both have the 312 Base mount – www.panavise.com

  1. One should not be able to pick these type of locks like this. They must have a spring loaded split nut (two nuts) in the middle in order to be able to open from both sides. You have to press it down, otherwise the lever in the middle will not turn together with the cylinder. Or am I missing something? This is the major disadvantage of these locks – if you have a key inserted and turned in one side, you can not insert key in the other. Do you have to use longer tension wrench, the pick, or third instrument to press the bottom?

  2. The keyway is a giveaway
Most of the chinese locks use the same keyway. For this type is a much narrower key than all the real brands use.

  3. African knockoff?? The Africans can't even supply themselves with clean water let alone have the intelligence to make a counterfeit lock!!  It'll be Chinese, guaranteed!
