(101) LSDA 50mm Padlocks Zipped & Gutted

My vises are made by Panavise, a U.S. Company.  The one with the wide jaws is the model 350.  The smaller one is the model 301. Both have the 312 Base mount – www.panavise.com

  1. Bosnianbill, Love the video's! What is your favorite off the shelf medium size padlock? Or what would be your favorite lock in say an average Walmart, Lowes, or Home Dept.? Keep up the good work!

  2. Well, I worked as a locksmith for a few years. As they explained it to me LSDA locks are an attempt by the locksmith dealers association to give locksmiths a comparable product at a comparable price point to the locks being sold at Home Depot and lowes.

And the original premise was they would only be sold through dealers to actual locksmiths. LSDA locks and lock sets always looked good. But the internals really told the true story. Junk. Now I see they sell to anybody now.

  3. Yeah, that's usually my luck too. But the last two packages had EXACTLY what I ordered plus some extra stuff. Probably means the next package will be empty…

  4. Very interesting mate this core REALLY looks like the Abus Series 83 core! Good video mate thanks for the great info again. Just by the way I have like 100 springs for the 83 series now so if you ever need a few just let me know 🙂

  5. Dibs one one of the freaky-pinned locks.

I think some of the locks we see are meant more as "seals" or just weak deterrents. Back to that "locks are for honest people" thing.

But, you have to wonder — how much extra would it cost the manufacturer to spool the top pins? 50 cents? Hmph.
