My vises are made by Panavise, a U.S. Company.  The one with the wide jaws is the model 350.  The smaller one is the model 301. Both have the 312 Base mount – www.panavise.com

  1. Unless you ace counting the pins and are POSITIVE each are set, there is no way to know if it is the last pin or not. Also, most locks just don't cooperate and set in order from rear to front. You have to find the binding order and pick according to what the lock wants. With a little practice, you'll figure this out and it'll come naturally. I'd recommend a 4-pin lock with no security pins to begin with – say a Master Lock or the UK equivalent. Good luck!

  2. Hi Bill, i love the videos, keep it up. i am an aspiring lock picker and i have managed a couple so far. a question for you, how do you know when you are at the last pin, i.e nearest the shackle? any favourite padlock makes to start with practicing? i am in the U.K. thanks in advance.

  3. Yeah, they are the best part of these videos about Chinese locks. It was really cool having them walk up to my patio. One night I heard some screaming out there. The next morning I woke and found some kind of carcass on the back patio. Something lost a fight, big time.

  4. Great picking Bill, Well the wilder beast prob heard or saw your vids on shooting master locks and ran away. Lol!!! great picking again mate. Very interesting lock
