(1051) Nasty Nick’s Alpha Padlock

My vises are made by Panavise, a U.S. Company.  The one with the wide jaws is the model 350.  The smaller one is the model 301. Both have the 312 Base mount – www.panavise.com

  1. Wow ! Looked like a cheap Chinese junk lock, on the contrary though. Great pickin Bill.

  2. Am I the only one who wants to see inside that Alpha lock?? Nasty Nick give Bill permission to gut it please lol Mill that sucker open Bill if Nick is ok with that 😉

    1. Bill is not an English lever lock fan at all. My second cousin was quite adept at 13 lever lever locks, even making his own curtain lifters and pick sets. We just went to pin tumbers in the USA, and lever locks, or good lever locks, fell out of popularity. The multiple false gates are maddening to me. You have to write off each combinations, and try to notice which gates have a deeper set, remember those and start over again hoping you were correct, and find the real gate on the next set. My cousin went on to help build atomic clocks later in life, and he has been gone for a while now.

  3. Wow, good little picking video there Bill. Teaches some of the lesser experienced pickers out there, that not all locks that look similar, are as simple to pick in to or shim etc. Nice job though 😀🔓 That pinning in a good high quality Boron Steel Padlock Housing, I could see this being a challenge to criminals out there to get in to. 😊 👍
