(1119) Whipped by Luca’s Balls

My vises are made by Panavise, a U.S. Company.  The one with the wide jaws is the model 350.  The smaller one is the model 301. Both have the 312 Base mount – www.panavise.com

  1. That’s thinking outside the box…Balls for pins, who would’a thunk it. Great vid Bill.

  2. Wow, birds at the window, deer in the garden, and the cry of an elephant! Or was that Bill’s Trumpet of Frustration…

While ball chain pins might make for a brutal challenge lock, not much for security. A sturdy blank, Channel Locks or similar, and you’re a quick twist away from turning that lock.

  3. Awesome challenge. Would durability be an issue if this was ever going to be a real lock? Those chains are not that strong…

  4. cough .. that title! :'D

[EDIT] that pinning is awesome! very simple, but also *SUPER EFFECTIVE*! nice… 😀

  5. Now that you know… could you pick it? I assume so, but it would be interesting to see what "insider knowledge" does for pick time.

  6. Nice ! I wanted to see something of this kind "linked with steel element" Never I could have taught of this kind of chain, Bravo to the designer !
Still one question: Is it resistant to force attacks ?

  7. Good idea. You would want to be sure to use quality materials if the lock was to be used, and to inspect and replace parts before a failure occurs, which could be a nightmare if you let it fail while installed.

  8. Luca you're a genius!! There's nothing like putting together a challange lock like this with just some ball-chain.. Really impressive, great idea!! I think I'm going to build one up and try to pick it just to feel the feedback.
